地球自转形成白天与黑夜 Day and Night

地球自转是地球的一种重要运动形式，地球绕自转轴自西向东的转动，从北极点上空看呈逆时针旋转，从南极点上空看呈顺时针旋转。地球自转一周的时间是1日。
白天和黑夜，亦可代指事物两个相反的方向。昼夜由自转产生，谓之“太阳日”，但昼夜的长度并非等于自转周期，因为当地球自转一周后，同时进行了公转，公转使地球对于太阳的相对角度发生变化，而昼夜是以太阳照在地球上的范围来看的，所以一昼夜比自转周期多3分56秒。当地球自转时，面向太阳之地面为“昼”，背向太阳之地面则为“夜”。
